I was born and raised in Utah. My family and I lived in a compound where everyone is white and they all believe in the holy book of Joseph Smith. I don’t know how much you know about this religion, but compared to all others it’s the worst. To my knowledge, currently my father has 7 or 8 wives and the last one is only 14 years old. In the compound girls are being united to men in marriage since the age of 12. When I was 18, I was released in the real world to find my way back home. It was the toughest thing I had to go through. I stole from old women to buy food. I slept in a crack house full of junkies. I used drugs, I stole to buy drugs and I even gave prostituted myself for drugs. One night cops broke into all the crack houses and arrested all the junkies including me. After being in jail for about 3 to 4 months with no drugs, you will start thinking about what you really want in life. I wanted to be more, educated, married with children and most importantly happy and proud of myself. So I assigned myself for the recovery program and after being clean from drugs, I studied hard for my GPA exam. After that I went to college and I have my bachelor’s degree in Health and clinical sciences. Shortly after receiving my degree, I moved to Los Angeles. I met my wife in the Hospital I started working at and she was a nurse as well. She is a beautiful African American woman. My family would never ever approve our relationship, let alone a marriage. The book of Joseph Smith heavily discriminates against people of darker skin. I feel that I was freed from the fucked up life I had in Utah and I am grateful to have gotten a chance to know and experience a real life. The government should ban the life people live in the compound because having sex with a 12 year old is simply rape.
I loved your article Nicole Hawker – you seem to be a person that believes in facts rather that superstition. If it’s possible, can you please write an article on the book of Mormon (Joseph Smith) and your honest opinion on it.

My advice to you is to follow your heart. Many of us wish we could choose the one to love but sometimes people fall in love with the least expected person.
