A Chinese billionaire who ran a forestry company died after eating some slow-boiled cat meat stew however, it wasn’t the cat meat that ended his life.
The billionaire, Long Liyuan was sharing a table with two other people and they shared the cat stew as well. All three of them were hospitalized, but only Long Liyuan lost his life due to cardiac arrest.
Agriculture official Huan Guang was arrested on suspicion of poisoning the stew at the restaurant where he also was eating along with Long and another man. The police in southern China believe that Huang dropped toxic herbs into the cat stew and ate just a little bit of the stew to avoid suspicions.
At first the police took the restaurant owner in custody on suspicion of serving unsanitary food but they immediately detained Huang after they discovered that he embezzled money from Long Liyuan.
Long’s family believe that there is more to his dead and are offering 16,000 USD reward for information.
