This is funny yet awful in some ways. I’m sure you’ve seen on the Discovery channel how an ostrich sometimes hide by putting their head in a hole leaving their entire body including their neck out in the open. They’re not very smart creatures. Well thanks to their not very wise intuition, an ostrich in a Portugal zoo got scared and since there were no hole in the ground that is, he hid in a rhino’s behind.
Yes! The poor animal, weighing over two tons was lifted from the ground when the bird was trying to find its way to the nearest hole. Apparently the fact that there were some insects flying in the area, kind of encouraged the bird to peck, peck, peck away.
I can only imagine how traumatized the poor rhino must be; poor thing probably needs therapy now. According to the zookeepers, the rhino, Kai, has never met an ostrich before and probably he’ll sit down or put his behind against a wall if he sees one again. Kai (10) was brought t he park to mate with two other female rhinos.
