INDIA – Deepak Kumar (7) was born with four legs and four arms. He’s from one of the poorest states of India and he’s considered to many as sort of God.
People travel long distance to visit Deepak Kumar, the religious icon who the local Hindus see as a resemblance of the multi-limbed God Vishnu. They give him money, clothes, shoes, flowers, fruit and candy. Others see him as a reincarnation of the Devil.
Deepak’s parents are relieved that finally their son has gone under surgery to remove the extra limbs. His physical disability was taking a toll on the him and doctors believed that he wouldn’t live long carrying them along. Deepak had the surgery at the Fortis Hospital in Bangalore where he was separated from his parasitic twin.
Deepak and his family started to appear publicly in February in an attempt to raise one thousands of pounds for the operation. A new television special will show the story of Deepak and his four-hour operation.
