Rapidshare eliminates waiting time in order to boost traffic

Rapidshare was once upon a time the best fileserve company. For the past two weeks, it seems like they might become the best again. I haven’t used rapidshare since they introduced the 5 minutes waiting time (and they call themselves anti-waiting company)! Waiting 5 minutes for a download to start, made me forget each and every time that I was waiting. As consequence I had to continuously restart the download and wait 5 minutes again. It was frustrating!

I suppose that the people at rapidshare experienced a drastic drop in traffic because I’m sure that I wasn’t the only one using fileserve instead.Another frustrating aspect was that after each download, one must wait around 45 minutes for another download. WTF?! Fileserve makes you wait I believe 5 or 10 minutes tops. Filesonic I believe is 8 min or less depending on the file size. All the file hosts I use are within 5 to 10 minutes waiting time so rapidshare has a lot of competition.

I actually like rapidshare more than any other file hosts for only one factor. When it comes to downloading, because it uses almost all of my bandwidth (20Mb) so downloads are around 1.8Mb per second. While Fileserve downloads at  about 700Kb, Filesonic at 400Kb and Wupload at 200Kb. I however used them anyways because I search for exchange links and you don’t have to wait long for another download. So basically together they beat rapidshare.

Nevertheless at the present time rapidshare is the best since you don’t have to wait for each download, no captcha if you have an account (expired) and you can download a second file without waiting as a free user. It’s all fun for now……it’s only a matter of time when the party stops!

The job pays well however it gets quite tiresome sometimes. I discovered two years ago that I have some kind of passion for writing so in 2010 I started this blog in hope that people will share a piece of their mind.
