Yes, you read the title correctly, Belgian Courts acquits a man due to “sleep walking” after he sexually assaulted a 9 year old girl. My initial thoughts were, yeah right! They accepted this kind of behavior because he did in his sleep and he acted without will or consciousness of what he did. Yeah right!
If a man performs such acts in his dreams, isn’t he capable of doing it in real life? Our dreams are indeed successions of images, ideas, emotions and sensations occurring involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep but how convenient of an excuse it also is for these sickos. I don’t if it’s true or not if this guy was sleep walking, but it isn’t the first time that Belgian Courts is acquits a case relating to sleep walking.
Last year another man was acquitted by the Belgian Courts because he claimed to suffer from ‘sexsomnia’ and there was no proof that he was awake and that therefore he should have the benefit of the doubt. This 30-year-old man raped his 4-year-old daughter.
