E.coli infections kills 6 in Germany

Hundreds of people are sick in Germany and 6 were killed due to E.coli poisoning according to global health authorities. Apparently the bacteria outbreak is linked to vegetables (mostly cucumbers) this time, not beef products.

Of the six deaths, three were due to hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS) from E.coli and they were adults. The other three died from infection linked to HUS and E. coli and they were elderly according to World Health Organization.

The source of the outbreak is still unknown, but they are still investigating. Most of the infected people are from Northern parts of Germany. People visiting Germany from Sweden, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Denmark have also contracted the bacteria.

To prevent further contamination in EU countries, they will in the process of banning fruits and vegetables from Russia and all EU countries.

Update: The death toll is expected to rise even more, it’s already up to 14 people.
