Rapidshare is dying as Hotfile is becoming the new HOT file host!

I remember way back when I started using rapidshare on my speedy (not really) 128KB ADSL internet. I mean it was the bomb. Everything you need you’ll get on rapidshare and the premium accounts were a great deal better than now. Now they are getting greedy and putting all these crappy rules and making it more difficult for free users to collect more points. Hotfile and many others came to the rescue however it’s a fact that rapidshare has more bandwidth than the other ones which makes their download faster. For those of you that don’t know what rapidshare is, I’ll briefly explain. Rapidshare is a file host where you, I and basically anyone can upload our files on their server. They run a file hosting service. In return, for each file you’ve uploaded, you’ll get a link that you can share with everyone to download your file. For each download larger than 5MB you’ll get 1 point. (It used to be 1MB) If you have a premium account, you can download 5GB a day. (It used to be 10GB) And really it’s more like 4.5GB because every day I will exceed my limit however flashget, my download manager indicated that I’ve downloaded less than 5GB.

I currently have a rapidshare account due to the fact that I buy a yearly account and get an additional 3 months for free. My real problem isn’t that they have all these rules and absurdness going on except that I can’t seem to find rapidshare links on the regular sites I visit anymore. I only find Hotfile, Megaupload, Fileserver and even Depositfile. Rapidshare links are becoming quite scarce and I simply don’t have the time to search for an eternity.

Rapidshare is hurting the most important users, the free users or collectors. If they don’t upload their files the way they use to, it’s difficult for us, premium users and free user to download especially now that they there is a maximum daily points they can earn. I, as a user have no other choice but to leave rapidshare and start using the links that I’m currently finding without a hassle on the internet . If I have to choose now, it would most definitely be hotfile. I like rapidshare, it’s fast and reliable and I’m a loyal customer however circumstances are making me to choose another file host.

I´m also becoming very frustrated with Rapidshare, once so brilliant they are now killing them self. Can´t hardly find anything RS uploads I need any more. So why pay them? I will not renew my premium account. RIP RS

    I would say:
    1) hotfile
    2) fileserve
    3) filesonic

However as a free user I like fileserve.
I have a yearly account with RS so inevitably I have to use it and oneddl.com is the site I use for my RS downloads.

Does filesonic use recaptcha? Theres very few sites which still dont use REcaptcha, so the only ones you can add to a download manager are: netload, x7.to, megashares, megaupload… maybe a few more but thats it. The rest you have to sit there and type in the recaptcha for every file which is useless for overnight downloading.
Those only sites which have no re-captcha and can be added to Jdownloader for hassle-free automatic downloading should be used in my opinion!

Hi there Anon! Thanks for sharing!

To answer your question, yes, filesonic uses recaptcha. I couldn’t agree with you more about megashares, megaupload and the others not using recaptcha, however it’s hard to find download inks for these sites especially if when searching for fresh stuff. I guess that’s the disadvantage. Recently Rapidshare also doesn’t use recaptcha anymore, but the waiting time is unbearable.
