Why America shouldn’t leave Iraq yet.

A dear friend and I were having a discussion whether the US should leave Iraq or not. I am against leaving Iraq and he is in favor of leaving. He is American and I am not. Let me start by saying that I am not a pro-war type of person nevertheless I firmly believe that since the devastating invasion of Iraq occurred, when leaving, things has to be left stable for the countries further progression. In 2003, America invaded Iraq because of the threat they are to the world due to their weapons of mass destruction that till to date they are still in search for I suppose, because between you and me they didn’t find anything…..yet. Yes I and millions if not billions of people and leaders of many other countries (Google it) were all against this ridiculous war that only brought unnecessary death to not only Iraqis, but Americans and other nationalities as well. Since we can’t go back in time, we have to live with it, sad as it may be. I must say that I strongly believe that the country was much, much better off with the evil Saddam Hussein in charge.

Why shouldn’t America leave?

Well, this is fairly easy. You broke it, you fix it. If you think it’s fixed, you’re wrong, because it’s not! Just after the US withdrew combat brigades in Iraq this month, radicals launched a wave of bombings across the country, mostly targeting security forces. Again innocent people (civilians) were also killed and injured. If America leaves Iraq by the end of 2011 as President Obama proposed, Iraq will become more dangerous than Afghanistan. Iraq will be the perfect breeding ground for terrorists since their military aren’t compatible yet to deal with the radicals.

If you ask me, I believe that the war in Iraq wasn’t at all profitable for the United States. It’s unbelievably lamentable that you, US tax payers, are the ones funding this war while the country is going broke. I know what you’re thinking – if the war is contributing in the US’ bankruptcy, why keep fighting? For starters, it’s not in the US’ best interest to leave Iraq in a mess. The country must be completely stabilized before your departure. Bombings must stop, fighting must stop and peace must come. Some experts believe that this will be possible in about 10 years. You don’t want the upcoming generations of Iraq to hate America for ruining their country would you?

I confidently believe that if the US stays in Iraq, it will send a message that they do care and at the same time they’re protecting America from future radicals. This way they can recruit and train more Iraqi soldiers so that they can expand their military forces. They have to be strong and capable to deal with the daily bombings that before the war, the country wasn’t experiencing.

Note: The Iraq war on the other hand was immensely profitable for big companies such as: Halliburton, Exxon Mobile, Washington Group International, Aegis, International American Products and dozens more. Google it!
